InterGen strongly believes that its citizenship in communities around the world is a reflection of its diligence in actively protecting natural resources; ensuring public health around our facilities; promoting safe work conditions and practices; and supporting a viable and sustainable lifestyle for the multinational residents that host our projects.

We practice environmental stewardship every day - since all InterGen power facilities are new, they represent the most modern, efficient, and cleanest thermal facilities in the countries where they operate. Moreover, InterGen's facilities play an important role in displacing older power generation facilities that typically burn far more fuel for every megawatt of power generated but also produce significantly higher emissions for NOx (a precursor to ozone), SO2 (a precursor to acid rain), and CO2 (the most significant of the greenhouse gases). In addition, InterGen is a global leader in the operation of environmental systems that reduce the local consumption of water resources; utilize, treat, and recycle wastewater for community applications; and minimize the impacts of plant operations on local lands, wildlife, and habitats.

InterGen safeguards employee health and safety - InterGen has also pioneered new health and safety innovations, developing well over one hundred specific Health, Safety, & Environment Standards that cover every facet of our business. These standards range from engineering and design to protection of groundwater. Importantly, applied evenly across our entire international fleet and designed around the requirements of ISO 14001, the standards we deploy in the United States are the same ones we use in the Philippines. With a focus on continuous improvement, these standards are constantly expanded, refined, and applied as a metric for employee compensation from the plant level up to corporate management.

We honor our corporate social responsibilities - InterGen observes a stringent, enterprise-wide Sustainable Development Policy that continually reexamines the long-term issues that impact our business - from changes in the business environment and technology to changes in societal expectations. We are dedicated to meet our commitment to corporate stewardship regarding sustainable development, a dedication that requires that the Company will take active steps to implement this policy when it develops, constructs, and operates its facilities worldwide.
