SCRs reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) by mixing ammonia or urea into special catalysts in the exhaust gases of combustion turbines, converting NOx into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. Reducing NOx helps lessen ozone and acid rain. This technology is deployed at sites like La Rosita.
