Island Power

Jurong Island, Singapore
745 MW
Commencement of Operations: 2007

Island Power, a proposed natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power facility on Jurong Island, will be the first independent power project to participate in Singapore's de-regulated power pool market. The project is a joint venture between InterGen and Sime Darby Berhad. Island Power Company Pte Ltd holds a generation license to produce up to 800 MW, which is enough electricity to power over three-quarters of a million average households. Power sales will target a combination of long-term contracts and the merchant market.

The Island Power project will incorporate highly advanced systems designed to achieve optimal energy efficiency and environmental control objectives. The project will also contribute substantially to Singapore's economic development and help to meet the country's burgeoning need for low cost, environmentally friendly generating capacity.
