InterGen Office Certified By U.S. Green Building Council
Burlington, MA, October 19, 2004 – InterGen today announced that its Burlington office has achieved LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The Council’s LEED® Program (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) sets standards for developing high performance, sustainable buildings and defining "green building" through a common standard of scientific measurement. The InterGen Burlington facility was one of the first buildings in the country to achieve LEED Certification for commercial interiors.
Specific design elements of the InterGen office include use of recycled materials in floors, walls and ceilings, indirect lighting, water and air filtration systems and low energy appliances and office equipment.
"Your extensive use of recycled, regional and renewable materials is particularly noteworthy. LEED certification is a testament not only to your commitment to sustainable design, but also to the vision and leadership that is a hallmark of InterGen," said S. Richard Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council.
"We are very pleased to have achieved LEED Certification. The design and operations of our Burlington facility are a reflection of InterGen’s Sustainable Development Policy, one component of which is wise use of natural resources," noted Marvin Odum, Chief Executive Officer of InterGen.
