Green Design
InterGen's business practices are guided by a formal Sustainable Development Policy, a series of commitments we have made to responsible corporate citizenship. Among these policy guidelines is the efficient use of natural resources.
The design of InterGen's new corporate office reflects this dedication. In early 2002, InterGen leased part of a two-year-old building in Burlington, Massachusetts for its new office. Because the building's interior was unfinished, the company was able to employ a low-impact, environmental "green design" approach to the facility's construction and operation.
Through the use of recycled materials, low or no-volatile organic compound
paints and adhesives, sustainably grown and harvested wood, a reverse-osmosis
water filtration system, energy star compliant appliances, and local suppliers,
InterGen has saved money, reduced waste, conserved energy, preserved natural
resources, and created a healthier environment for its employees.
