Sustainable Development

InterGen seeks to integrate the economic, environmental and societal aspects of its business to achieve sustained financial success, safeguard the environment and develop the Company's reputation as a respected corporate citizen.

InterGen will take active steps to ensure that this Sustainable Development policy is implemented in the development, construction and operation of its facilities worldwide. A systematic approach will be employed to achieve this integration in the following areas:

Corporate Commitment. The Company will establish, implement and monitor policies, programs and best practices for conducting its development, construction and operations in a manner that is consistent with this policy. Moreover, the Company will pursue a process of continuous improvement with regard to the sustainable development of its facilities.

Integrated Management. The Company will integrate this sustainable development policy, and associated programs and standards fully in all activities and all functions as an essential element of management. InterGen will create an environment where a genuine concern for sustainable development is fostered through example and involvement. The implementation of these polices will be considered when taking into account performance at all levels.

Communications. The Company will establish and maintain communications with its employees, residents in communities hosting its facilities and other appropriate stakeholders, to keep them fully informed on the Company's activities and its facilities' development construction and operations.

Environmental Stewardship. When constructing and operating its facilities, the Company will respect biodiversity and utilize proven, environmentally responsible technology.

Impact Mitigation. The Company will work with communities to anticipate and manage the impact of its plant construction and operations upon the local community.

Use of Natural Resources. The Company will seek to effectively and efficiently utilize natural resources in the construction and operation of its projects.

Economic Development. The Company will actively seek to create and promote local economic opportunities associated with the development, construction and operations of its projects.

Employment. The Company will actively seek to create a safe and healthy environment for its employees. The Company will also proactively encourage the hiring of local personnel for both the construction and operations of its projects.

Community Development. The Company will provide support, financial or otherwise, for local community development initiatives; depending on the circumstance of each project. This could include assistance with social, educational, health or other similar activities.

Human Rights. The Company will respect the human rights of employees and members of the communities in which it operates.

Cultural Sensitivity. The Company will respect the rights of local cultures and indigenous peoples and proactively seek to support cultural identity initiatives.
