Purpose

To oversee, develop and manage InterGen UK Business Information Solutions and lead major system projects.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

People Management

  • Maintain and develop strong working relationships and actively seek opportunities for coaching and providing positive support, guidance and feedback
  • Manage and contribute to the development of common goals. Plan all inputs and delivery of long term initiatives as delegated or set as personal objectives
  • Manage day to day supervision. Participate in succession planning, talent retention and performance monitoring of direct reports. Participate in process designed to ensure appropriate training and resources (budget and manpower) to fulfil current and forecast work load
  • Participate in processes designed to ensure training, planning and communication of resource redeployment is optimised
  • Participate in recruitment as required, using evaluation techniques to facilitate recruitment of high calibre candidates
  • Manage external consultants and contractors as required, and assure appropriate budget against deliverables

Systems and Data

  • Support delivery of InterGen’s Technology Strategy and Roadmap
  • Responsibility for driving data strategy in support of overall business strategy
  • Work closely with technology owners in IT to deliver data strategy
  • Support delivery of data sources and technology to support Analytics and Data Science
  • Develop and maintain all governance procedures and policies for business information

Project, Release and Environment Management

  • Project management of all large projects across trading and other functions as directed by the UK Leadership Team
  • Release management
  • Control of all documentation
  • Vendor management

Business Intelligence

  • Vendor Management
    • General Support
    • Oversight of contracted resource to deliver bespoke projects
  • Licenses and Audit of Analytical Tools
  • Support for all key systems such as
    • Management reporting of operational and Financial metrics
    • Budgeting tools (O&E, IT, G&A)

Skills / Competencies

Key characteristics of the successful candidate will include:

  • A highly confident individual with excellent communication skills
  • Able to present complex ideas verbally and in writing
  • Familiar with several BI reporting and analytical technologies (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, TM1, Python)
  • Well organised and disciplined with track record in delivering projects
  • Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management to balance long term initiatives with ad-hoc and routine tasks
  • A self-starter with a desire to learn quickly and thrive in a high performance environment
  • Ability to persuade and influence
  • Ability to delegate effectively and upwardly manage.

Education

  • Educated to at least degree level or have at least 5 years relevant experience

Experience

  • Energy Industry experience strongly preferred
  • A strong understanding of the UK wholesale electricity market and key drivers which influence the commercial performance of InterGen’s assets
  • Proven project manager with track record in delivering results

Travel

  • Infrequent travel required to sites and to vendors
