Purpose

The key purpose of the Controls & Instrumentation Engineer is to support the Engineering Manager to safely and effectively manage the longer term engineering and maintenance requirements of the Plant Assets.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

  • Coordinate and manage engineering project work from development to implementation.
  • Plan, execute and manage C&I work scopes during plant outages, in both a hands-on and supervisory capacity.
  • Liaise with the Production Team to investigate plant issues and implement solutions, by providing C&I experience, knowledge and guidance as required.
  • Coordinate with procurement to develop technical specifications and successful tendering.
  • Manage contract delivery and closeout to ensure contractors services are delivered safely, on time, on budget and to specification.
  • Oversee and coordinate procurement, stores management and financial activities as required.
  • Coordinate Management of Change activities, ensuring plant change & modification procedures are applied in accordance with InterGen policy.
  • Carry out internal and cross-site Technical Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Coordinate Engineering Risk Assessments and reviews
  • Support Strategic Spares Reviews.
  • Manage document control systems and programmes.
  • Review incoming Engineering Reports and be responsible for ensuring actions are tracked to completion.
  • Support the management of information tracking databases and focused meetings including, but not limited to: Business Interruption, Risk Management, Insurance, Plant Status Reviews and CAPEX programs.
  • Support the management of Maintenance Management System and NISOFT Permit System.
  • Support the Engineering Manager by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, through to developing and implementing solutions
  • Participate and support other Engineering Department initiatives as required.
  • Support the wider InterGen teams on short term secondments where appropriate.
  • Support cross-site Regional Engineering initiatives and improvements.
  • Provide suitable cover for the Engineering Manager in their absence.
  • Oversee and coordinate facilities management activities as required.
  • Provide support to other Engineering team members as required.

Knowledge / Experience

  • A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement - NEBOSH or IOSH qualified is preferable. Working knowledge of Hazardous area classification and ATEX requirements

Education

  • Minimum of HND in C&I or Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline with a high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge. (Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience).
