The key purpose of the Day Focussed Team Leader is to support the Operations and Maintenance & Reliability Managers to deliver maximum plant reliability, flexibility, availability and overall plant performance in line with high standards of Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental performance.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

  • Implementing the company’s health, safety and environmental management policies and actively participating in company/site HSE initiatives including the HSE forum activities, including procedure reviews on a periodic basis
  • Planning the daily Production Day Team Maintenance and Permitry activities with the Production and Engineering Departments to ensure maximum plant reliability & flexibility is achieved to high standards of quality, safety and environmental performance
  • Carrying out responsibilities as defined in the company’s Safety rules and associated procedures
  • Act as Assistant Production outage coordinator, supporting the Production Engineer with the planning and execution of Permitry and Production requirements for all site outages
  • Supporting other UK stations if the business needs arise
  • To be on call and to change working patterns where necessary in order to meet the needs of the business
  • Participate in the broader management of the station and the development of employees
  • Ensuring additional support is available as and when required, particularly in dynamic conditions such as unit start-up or trip
  • Building and maintaining a culture of team work
  • Carry out Safety Rules audits and feedback findings
  • Carry out all Safety Controller functions up to, and including, 400kV safety switching and isolation and Interacting with external companies and providers
  • Participating in Safety Rules Review Group activities
  • Co-ordinate station chemistry requirements, including dosing regimens, analysis and results and liaising with the station chemistry partner
  • Assist HSE advisor in all matters of regulatory reporting
  • Deliver training and authorise personnel for tasks related to InterGen Safety Rules
  • Act as coordinator and mentor for all department trainees
  • Act as department lead for various projects, as assigned
  • Act as Contractor Site Liaison for external contractors working for InterGen
  • Act as stand-in Shift Team Leader during the absence of all other Shift Team Leaders
  • Carry out assigned Production Engineer duties in their absence
  • Act as stand-in Operations Manager during their absence.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Knowledge of power generation operations and maintenance associated with Gas/Steam turbines, boilers & balance of plant, computer aided Maintenance Management applications and Safety Rules
  • At least 5 years in power generation industry operations and maintenance, experience associated with gas turbines at a supervisory level. Authorized and experienced as Safety Controller/Coordinator/SAP to HV and Plant


  • Minimum of HNC in an Engineering discipline with a high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge (Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience)
  • A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement, NEBOSH or IOSH qualified is preferable
