Purpose

To provide ownership and direction of all electrical engineering issues, and to support electrical maintenance (preventative, breakdown and condition-based) to optimise plant availability, reliability & flexibility whilst achieving high standards of safety, quality and environmental performance.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

  • Implementing the company’s Health, Safety, Security and Environmental management policies and actively participating in their continuous review and improvement
  • Establishing and implementing new electrical maintenance policies and procedures as necessary to meet regulatory and business needs
  • Providing leadership, oversight and direction on all plant electrical engineering and maintenance issues
  • Taking ownership for maintaining, servicing, repairing and history recording of plant electrical equipment, especially the critical assets
  • Supporting the day-to-day maintenance team with technical advice and, as required, practical assistance, for execution of planned preventative, condition based and reactive maintenance activities
  • Undertaking plant risk assessments as necessary, for example, to demonstrate risk management to ALARP
  • Recording key plant risks and developing mitigation plans, including strategic spares reviews and proposals for capital investments
  • Performing outage planning, project management and co-ordination of electrical resources and contract support organisations
  • Sourcing, tendering, managing and supervising contracts for electrical engineering maintenance services.
  • Overseeing quality assurance of all electrical engineering and maintenance work
  • Ensuring all electrical modifications are undertaken in compliance with the site management of change policy and procedures
  • Managing & controlling electrical maintenance instructions, procedures and risk assessments
  • Undertaking electrical system equipment spares assessments, ordering and controlling those spares to optimise availability and reliability of the plant equipment
  • Ensuring electrical maintenance budgets are controlled in line with business plan requirements and advising the Engineering Manager on future budget projections
  • Supporting InterGen’s other UK power plants as the business needs arise, including active collaboration with peers to ensure knowledge transfer and sharing of good practice
  • To be on call and to change working patterns were necessary in order to meet the needs of the business
  • Supporting the broader management of the station and the development of maintenance personnel
  • Fulfilling roles and responsibilities as defined in the companies Safety rules and associated procedure

Education

  • Minimum of HND in Electrical Engineering with practical experience and knowledge (qualifications below this may be acceptable if evidenced by experience)
  • Qualification to degree level in a related engineering discipline is highly desirable

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of HV and LV apparatus associated with power generation from gas/steam turbines, boilers and associated balance of plant
