The Role

We are in search of a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our dynamic Legal and Risk Management team. As our new Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in providing legal and governance advice and support to the organisation across our Head Office and UK Operating Assets. Your role will be responsible for ensuring that our company's activities and operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations, and that our legal risks are managed effectively.

The Team

The Legal team forms an integral part of InterGen and how we operate. We are a supportive team of high performers who are driven by shared goals and a desire to succeed.

You will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and other members of the Legal and Risk Management Team, but we don’t stop there! The nature of this role ensures you will also have the opportunity to interact with colleagues across all functional areas and at all levels of the organisation.

Our Edinburgh office is a friendly and exciting environment enhanced with regular company-funded social events and seasonal gatherings, or time spent raising funds for our chosen charities.

Summary of Responsibilities

Assisting commercial, operational and procurement teams with day-to-day legal and regulatory compliance issues

Drafting and negotiation of documents including; supply contracts, technical service contracts, confidentiality agreements, financing arrangements, and various agreements to support intra-group activities

Supporting management of the governance framework for the InterGen Group, including; drafting and updating legal policies and procedures and working with the Regulatory Compliance Manager to provide support to other functions in relation to their policies and procedures

Providing general legal support to corporate office functions, including but not limited to; Accounting and Treasury, Commercial and Trading, Human Resources, Growth & Strategy, and IT

Supporting new project development and M&A activity as required

Working with project teams and senior management to deliver corporate and regional initiatives

Providing support for insurance renewals, interpretation, and claims

Supporting corporate secretarial services, including drafting board and shareholder resolutions, and managing the external company secretarial provider

Instructing and working alongside external counsel as required

Your Qualifications/Experience

For this role, you must have a Law degree from an accredited law school and have the appropriate Certificate/Licence to practice within the UK.
