To perform daily middle office tasks such as trade approval and reconciliations, produce market risk reports, perform analysis, and to help drive business strategy and results through the assessment of market risk factors leading to better business decisions.  As part of a small global team, they will be expected to work constructively to ensure all regular aspects of the daily Middle Office tasks, whilst adding value through providing analysis to ad-hoc requests from other business units.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

Daily Tasks

  • Produce Daily Trading Reports for the UK business, and understand day-to-day position moves
  • Approve trades executed from the previous day through various reconciliations with external sources, and investigate any discrepancies with the Traders
  • Review of daily market reports
  • Daily call with Traders to understand current market conditions and trading strategy
  • Maintain pricing database

Regular / Monthly Tasks

  • Assist in preparation of the Risk Reporting pack (collation of reports, breaches etc) covering the UK market and credit risks
  • Production of monthly forward curves, for reforecast and MtM purposes


  • Maintain Procedures documentation.
  • Identify business process improvements in all areas of responsibility, with a particular focus on transaction based activities
  • Provide analysis for ad hoc requests

  • Advanced Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent time management to balance long term initiatives with ad-hoc and routine tasks. Must be punctual and reliable


  • Educated to at least degree level


  • A high level of numeracy and analytical skills to deal with complex spreadsheets
  • Energy industry experience advantageous but not essential
