Purpose

To optimise the InterGen UK Asset portfolio through intra-day markets and ancillary services.  To be a key team member of a high performing group, setting and maintaining a high work standard and mentoring trainee traders. Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

  • Trading in the intraday power, gas and balancing markets
  • Devise and execute strategies for imbalance trading
  • Day to day interface with InterGen power station control rooms, power and gas system operators and contract counterparties
  • Within-day optimisation of power and gas portfolio positions as a result of changes in plant availability and spot market prices
  • Train and mentor trader and trainee traders to run the operations desk

The individual will need to be a self-motivated with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.  The individual will be comfortable having a large amount of autonomy and responsibility.

Education

  • Educated to at least degree level in a STEM subject

Experience

  • GB market Energy Shift Trading Desk experience a pre-requisite
