Purpose

The primary purpose of the Plant Engineer is to manage all engineering and maintenance requirements of the Spalding Energy Expansion Ltd (SEEL) OCGT 300 MW Power Station, to ensure the plant is able to operate safely and in accordance with the business need with a particular focus on achieving the highest levels of reliability.

Additionally, the Plant Engineer will provide occasional / ad hoc support to assist with the wider engineering and maintenance of the Spalding Energy Company Limited (SECL) 900 MW CCGT Power Station, especially during busy periods such as planned outages.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

·       Primary coordination of all engineering activities for all SEEL OCGT assets including the gas turbine, generator, transformers, switchgear, auxiliaries, control system and associated balance of plant equipment

·       Conduct business planning activities for the SEEL OCGT, including outage forecasting, budget setting, the annual Plant Status Review and maintaining the Risks & Opportunities register

·       Engage with other engineering team specialists (including mechanical, electrical, control & instrumentation engineers) as necessary to ensure technical solutions and decisions are appropriate and fit for purpose

·       Coordinate all outage work for the SEEL OCGT throughout the outage planning, execution and close out phases, to ensure safely and to quality, time and cost targets

·       Ensure suitable procedures, routines, work orders and maintenance contracts are in place to comply with OEM recommendations and good industry practice

·       Proactively manage the OCGT assets in accordance with a risk-based engineering and maintenance strategy, ensuring appropriate periodic maintenance is completed, suitable predictive/condition-based monitoring techniques are applied, and corrective maintenance is addressed promptly

·       Conduct technical investigations, fault finding, trending and analysis to aid resolution of issues and liaise with the maintenance and operation teams to gain support as needed, with a particular focus on ensuring the highest levels of plant reliability

·       Ensure an appropriate inventory of spares parts is held sufficient for breakdown response, planned maintenance, outages and as strategic spares.

·       Plan and deliver plant improvement projects

·       Drive continuous improvement projects to deliver against KPIs, including setting, tracking and communicating

·       Manage relationships and contracts with OEMs for key equipment to ensure rapid technical support is provided when required

·       Support the wider InterGen team at Spalding by providing engineering, project and outage support as required for the SECL 900 MW CCGT, as and when requested to do so by the Engineering Manager

·       Support wider InterGen initiatives as requested by the Engineering Manager

·       Provide suitable cover for the Engineers and Engineering Manager in their absence

·       To be on call and to change working patterns where necessary in order to support the team and meet the needs of the business

Education/Experience

·       Ideally Degree qualified in an Engineering or related discipline, although HNC/HND with a high level of practical experience will be acceptable

·       A good understanding of all HSE aspects is fundamental

·       Solid Engineering experience in fault finding, analysis and trending to resolve technical issues

·       Strong project coordination skills evidenced by managing small multi-disciplinary teams and projects in a heavy industry environment

·       Experience in the application of risk-based maintenance regimes

·       Experience in writing procedures, reports, work requests and contract specifications

·       Experience in chairing and coordinating meetings to support resolution of issues
