Purpose

The key purpose of the C&I Engineer is to support the Engineering Manager to safely and effectively manage the engineering and long-term maintenance requirements of the Plant, with special focus on the control systems and cyber security, to ensure it is able to operate safely, compliantly, reliably and flexibly in line with business need.

Job Summary

Principal responsibilities are described below:

·         Be the senior technical expert on site regarding the management of all Operational Technology (OT) assets on site, including plant control systems (T3000, GE MkVI, MkVIe, ABB Harmony, Siemens S7 and other PLC-based systems)

·         Provide recommendation to the Engineering Manager regarding OT life cycle management, upgrades, obsolescence management, spares inventory, CAPEX plans, etc.

·         Be the site lead on implementing appropriate cyber security arrangements to comply with regulatory and company requirements

·         Plan, execute and manage C&I scope during plant outages, in both a hands-on and supervisory capacity.

·         Coordinate and manage engineering project work, development and implementation.

·         Coordinate with procurement to develop technical specifications and successful tendering.

·         Manage contract delivery and close-out to ensure contractors services are delivered safely, on time, on budget and to specification.

·         Liaise with the Operations and Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) Teams to investigate plant issues and implement solutions, by providing C&I experience, knowledge and guidance as required.

·         Be the site lead on implementing an alarm management program to optimise plant operability.

·         Coordinate Management of Change activities, ensuring plant change & modification procedures are applied.

·         Utilise InterGen’s information and action tracking processes to deliver an ongoing continuous improvement program, Risk/Opportunity Register, plant issue register (BITS), plant anomaly cases, Plant Status Review, insurer recommendations, CAPEX program, etc.

·         Carry out internal and cross site Technical RCA investigations.

·         Coordinate and perform engineering risk assessments.    

·         Manage document control systems and programmes.

·         Review incoming Engineering Reports and be responsible for ensuring actions are tracked to completion.

·         Support the Engineering Manager by identifying other opportunities for continuous improvement, developing and implementing solutions

·         Support the management of the maintenance management system (JDE) and NISOFT.

·         Participate in other Engineering Department initiatives as required.

·         Support the wider InterGen teams on short term secondments where appropriate.

·         Support cross site Regional Engineering initiatives/issues.

·         Provide suitable cover for the Engineering Manager in their absence.

·         Provide support to other Engineering team members as required.

Education/Experience

·         Minimum of HND in C&I or Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline with a high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge. (Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience)A minimum of five years Power Plant O&M experience would be desirable but experience within heavy industry and/or technical production environments would be considered.

·         Proficient in managing industrial OT, Distributed Control Systems, SCADA and PLC-based systems.  Previous experience with the plant-specific systems listed above is beneficial but not essential

·         Experience in industrial OT management programs, cybersecurity, obsolescence, alarm management, functional safety, etc.

·         A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement - NEBOSH or IOSH qualified is preferable.
